Emotional well-being, public innovation, and community transformation
June 12, 2026
Tauá (Ceará, Brazil)
The First EmoCities Conference in Tauá marked the beginning of the EmoCities Network in Brazil and represented a milestone in the internationalization of the project. Organized by the Tauá City Council, Emosciência, and the International Network for Emotional Education and Wellbeing (RIEEB), the conference brought together policymakers, professionals from education, health, and social services, as well as institutional representatives committed to placing emotional wellbeing at the center of public policies.
The meeting was the result of an international cooperation process initiated with a technical mission of representatives from Tauá to Catalonia, where they learned about reference experiences in community governance, emotional education, mental health, and well-being promoted by public administrations and institutions of the RIEEB..
From learning to action
The event allowed for the sharing of the EmoCities model and opened a process of collective reflection on how to adapt international experiences to the reality of the municipality of Tauá and the State of Ceará..
Throughout the day, three main topics were addressed:
Emotional well-being as public policy, integrating emotional education into municipal strategies for prevention, health, and community development.
Collaborative governance, strengthening joint work among public administrations, education, health, social entities, and citizens to generate a greater impact.
The transfer of models and best practices, adapting international experiences to the Brazilian context to promote the EmoCities Network and build healthier and more cohesive communities.
The participatory work allowed for the identification of strengths, opportunities, and strategic lines to promote a local model of emotional well-being adapted to the Brazilian context..
A shared institutional commitment
One of the most significant moments of the day was the official incorporation of the municipality of Tauá into the EmoCities Network, becoming the first city in Brazil to be part of this international initiative..
The day concluded with the commitment to continue jointly developing actions aimed at:
- Promote emotional education programs in educational institutions
- Strengthen the emotional competencies of professionals
- Promove collaborative governance models
- Develop public policies focused on the emotional well-being of citizens
- Consolidate a network of municipalities committed to emotional well-being in Brazil
The First EmoCities Conference in Tauá represents the beginning of a new stage of collaboration between Brazil and the RIEEB to promote more humane, healthy, and cohesive cities, where emotional well-being is part of the sustainable development of communities..
EmoCities Brazil is already underway.
